Children’s rights commissioner: “Give children the chance to think about vaccination” – Listen Select

The health ministers of our country have given the green light for the vaccination of children aged 5 to 11 years. The vaccination is not mandatory, but it is recommended for children with underlying conditions. The intention is that the first invitations for children with underlying conditions will be sent at the end of December.
Children’s rights commissioner Caroline Vrijens agrees with offering vaccines to children, but believes that freedom of choice remains important. “First of all, the parents. They are the legal representatives of their children. But the right to information and participation for children is certainly crucial.”
According to Vrijens, no distinction should be made between vaccinated and unvaccinated children. There will therefore be no Covid Safe Ticket (CST) for that age group. The Children’s Rights Commissioner will see to it that this does not happen.
