Children’s book Meghan Markle big flop, but does make money

Meghan’s book The Bench has sold 3,212 times in the UK in its first week of release. With that, it even falls outside the bestseller top 50. Remarkable, especially considering the world-famous writer. She even signed the book as ‘Meghan, the Duchess of Sussex’, hoping to attract more buyers.

So that didn’t happen. Nor can it be a good review: both British and American newspapers have little good to say about the book. The story is more like a self-help guide for parents rather than entertainment for small children The Times. ‘It lacks the crucial ingredients for a successful book for this age group: a good story and a basic rhythm. There is so little action that you wonder if the writing was delegated to a piece of furniture.’ That sits.

Also The Telegraph is not very enthusiastic and gives the book only one star. The Duchess’s first children’s book is all boring parenting wisdom and has no story. It is hard to imagine that a child would like this. I wonder how a publisher thought it appropriate to publish something like that.’

Due to poor sales, Meghan was forced to donate 2,000 copies. Nevertheless, it is expected that the book will still yield a profit, as it will soon also appear on the international market. So there is still hope.

The book, which is about the bond between father and son and is therefore clearly inspired by husband Harry and son Archie, was published last week. Our Justine Marcella could not resist reading it immediately and gave her unvarnished opinion at RTL Boulevard:
