Children of parents with ITIN receive monetary stimulus check

The Internal Revenue Service (IRS) confirms that American children of mothers who use the ITIN to do their taxes are also receiving the $ 1,400 economic stimulus check.

Both in the first federal check and the second, these groups were excluded from receiving the money under the excuse that the money could not be awarded to people without documents in this country, even though they paid taxes with ITINs. With this millions of families were left without assistance.

However, in this new package, if dependents of parents with ITIN have valid social security they also qualify for the return.

For the IRS, a taxpayer is the person who files their tax return and the dependents are the children or relatives qualified as elderly or with weaknesses who depend on them financially.

Also, mixed families receive the benefit on this occasion. In this case, the money will be given to the person with the social security number.

In the case of immigrants with ITINs, who claim themselves on the tax return, or whose children or other dependents do not have a social security number, they are excluded from the benefit.
