Children killed in house collapse, a human river for torchlight procession

(ANSA) – NUORO, 04 APR – From the farmhouse of the tragedy to the oratory, from the football fields to the parish of San Domenico Savio. The places frequented by Patrick Zola and Ythan Romano aged 15 and 14 – who died on Easter Monday due to the collapse of the roof of a ruined building on the outskirts of Nuoro where they were playing – were crossed by a human river: teenagers, kids, parents , school groups, elderly people, all gathered in a torchlight procession in memory of the two unfortunate boys and in a collective embrace for their families. The parish priest Don Stefano Paba, the nuns of the Salesian oratory, the mayor of Nuoro Andrea Soddu, the prefect Giancarlo Dionisi and the leaders of the police opened a procession headed by a religious man carrying a cross. “In these parks Patrick and Ythan ran carefree, but these are also the places where death came suddenly and left us speechless due to so much pain – said Don Stefano – The city of Nuoro and we all huddle together mothers of Patrick and Ythan, to the brothers, to the relatives with this simple moment of silence and prayer, so that it can be a moment of comfort for them”. “There are no words to express the city’s pain for the death of these young lives that were coming into existence – added Mayor Soddu – I want to represent to the families the city’s pain and embrace, hoping that this affection can soothe their pain a little.” Tomorrow in the parish of San Domenico Savio at 10 am the funeral of the two boys will be celebrated with the Eucharistic celebration presided over by the bishop of Nuoro, Monsignor Antonello Mura.
