“Share like St. Martin” – that’s what you learn in the St. Elisabeth kindergarten. Traditionally, half of the proceeds from the Martinsfest are donated to clubs or institutions in the area. “The parents’ council has always found great projects for many years,” says a delighted Stefanie Unterburger, the day care manager.

Last November, the association “Sonnenblicke Nordoberpfalz” was selected and given 150 euros. “The non-profit association from Neusorg supports families with cancer or other seriously ill children from the northern Upper Palatinate financially, materially and personally,” explains the deputy chairman of the parents’ council, explaining the reasons for the selection. Despite the unusual St. Martin’s procession, a small profit was made at St. Martin’s Festival. Instead of the traditional celebrations, there was a “Martinszug-to-go”, with packed lunches consisting of biscuits in the shape of Martin’s goose and children’s punch or mulled wine.

Due to the pandemic situation, the parents’ council was unable to organize a personal handover. “We usually like to invite the thoughtful over to us,” says Stefanie Unterburger. But the parents’ council met for a short photo, which was handed over as a message of greeting. By the way, the girls and boys at the kindergarten themselves had lovingly designed the donation check.
