What bacteria are in our bodies and in foods such as cheese? Kids can now find out in the new “curiosity cube” of the chemical and pharmaceutical group “Merck” in Darmstadt. The cube is an old ship container in red, yellow and blue. It is outside in front of the company premises in the parking lot and can be walked on from the side. Inside there are microscopes that can be used to observe salmonella, for example.
Mobile laboratory for school children
The “curiosity cube” (also called “Curiosity Cube”) is intended for school children and youth groups aged eight to 13 years. Free visits can be booked directly with Merck. The shipping container is to remain in Darmstadt until September or October. After that he should go to France and other European countries, manager Matthias Heinzel told our reporter.
