Major fire brigades responded on Monday morning to a fire and explosion in a house in Croydon, south London.
Four people have been rescued after an explosion, and while one person has been reported missing, reports LBC News.
A spokesperson for the ambulance service confirms on Monday afternoon that a child was found dead after the incident.
– We treated four people. One was discharged at the scene and three others were taken to hospital. Unfortunately, a child was also pronounced dead at the scene.
Neighboring houses have also suffered major damage, but it is unknown what caused the explosion. Witnesses say they heard a loud bang in the area, write Sky News.
Sources for the channel say they assisted in rescuing people from the house, but they fear that a four-year-old girl is still in the house.
Four people were treated by paramedics at the scene, three of whom were sent to hospital, according to the channel.
Two weeks ago, a gas smell was reported in the area, and others have reported feeling dizzy and unwell for the past two days, writes Sky News.
