Ciamis: Case dengue fever dengue (DBD) in Ciamis Regency, West Java, increased from early January to September, registering 1,220 people due to the rainy season. This increase occurred in nearly 27 sub-districts, resulting in the death of 9 people.

The Head of the Disease Prevention and Control Department, Ciamis District Health Service, Edis Herdis, said that there was an increase in cases in this year’s rainy season, especially of the Aedes aegypti mosquito or dengue hemorrhagic fever (DHF).

“If you look at the cases of dengue fever that occur every year, children and teenagers are the most affected. This is because the virus penetrates faster, but this increase in cases occurred between January and September, with 1,220 cases recorded and causing 9. people to die because they were not helped ,” said Edis in Ciamis, Tuesday, October 15 2024.

Edis said that the increase in dengue fever cases is that health workers continue to try to take measures to reduce them, especially handling the elimination of mosquito nests (PSN) carried out by the t -Health Service, Community Health Centers and the community. However, during the rainy season, dengue fever cases increase and various efforts are being made through the one house-one jumantik (G1R1J) movement.

“We ask the public to always drain water tanks, cover, bury (3M), eliminate mosquito nests and maintain a healthy and clean lifestyle (PHBS). the public must be vigilant in cleaning the environment and always increase the movement to eliminate mosquito nests (PSN),” he explained.
