Children and family festival for World Children’s Day

On September 22, 2024, a children’s and family festival will take place on the small playing fields in Warendorf’s Emsseepark to mark World Children’s Day. This festival is organized and carried out by the city of Warendorf with the active support of the UNICEF Warendorf local group. The children’s and family festival is intended to draw attention to the interests and rights of children all over the world and here in Warendorf.

Strengthening children’s rights was the reason for the United Nations’ recommendation on December 14, 1954, to its member states to introduce “Universal Children’s Day,” which is now celebrated on different days in 130 countries around the world. The Federal Republic of Germany has chosen September 20.

For several years, a children’s and family festival has been held in Warendorf on the occasion of World Children’s Day. This year, 21 participating clubs and institutions are involved in organizing the festival in Emsseepark. Many activities are offered. Several areas of the city are involved, such as the city library, the HOT and the two municipal kindergartens.

For the first time, Mayor Peter Horstmann is also offering a children’s consultation hour. He will be available to answer questions, provide criticism and provide suggestions from the children of Warendorf during World Children’s Day.

In addition, various groups and clubs from Warendorf will present their programs on the event stage. These include the music group from the Heinrich-Tellen School, the wind instrument class from the Mariengymnasium, the Overberg School with dance and singing; there will also be dance performances from the Löwenzahn family center, from the TSC Warendorf with three groups and from the WaKaGe with the Bambinos and the Flöckchen. The clown Püppi will also perform with his swing cloth and various magic tricks.

The event on September 22nd, 2024 on the small playing fields in Emsseepark starts at 2:30 p.m. and ends at 6:00 p.m.
