Children (6 and 8) pull over car after father is shot dead behind wheel | Abroad

A 29-year-old man was driving on Interstate 10 in Houston with his two sons Friday night when he was shot and killed around 10:30 p.m. A spokesman for the Houston Police Department reported this to American media.

At first the children thought that someone had thrown a rock at their car. With their father slumped, they steered the SUV, a Toyota Sequoia, off the highway. They were able to stop the car in a parking lot, where they sought help. A woman called emergency services.

The father had been hit in the head by a bullet and was pronounced dead at the scene. His sons were unharmed.

According to the police, it is still unclear whether the man was the deliberate target of a shooting, traffic aggression or whether there was another motive behind the shooting. A white car is being sought in connection with the incident and police are asking any witnesses for more information. In addition, video images of the highway are being investigated. There is a $10,000 reward for tips leading to the shooter’s arrest.
