“Childless” or life without children against one’s will: harsh experience and stigmas

Musician Vita Stiģe-Škushkovnika visits host Oskars Leper, who openly talks about life without children, because she has experienced it herself and is going through it, (advertising industry professional Emils Senkans, who with his wife Madara experienced what the infertility stamp means, but still keeps hope to become parents of their own child, social anthropologist Diāna Kishčenko of Riga Stradins University, as well as Ilze Logina, representative of the “Star Child” initiative.

In the program, the participants share their personal experiences and through personal stories reveal how big the problem of infertility is in Latvia and what are the possibilities of receiving help for those who encounter it. These are poignant stories and conversations about the stigma that is still alive in our society and causes others to suffer.
