At the request of eight trade unions, they gathered in front of the headquarters of the French Community. “We have too much work and not enough hands”, summarizes a childcare worker from Liège. The sector must be more attractive, it sounds.
During the demonstration, a meeting was also planned between some trade union representatives and Bénédicte Linard, the French-speaking minister of child care. It would be open to applications, both in terms of the budgetary aspect and the lack of staff.
However, Sabine Lejeune, president of the sector federation Unessa, fears that concrete changes will be a long time coming. “We have been sounding the alarm for two or three years now. We are always listened to, but we only get small measures each time.”
