Zurich: Child with knife wound no longer in danger of death
The perpetrator of the attack, a 23-year-old Chinese man, allegedly posted an obscure message on Instagram before his act.

On Tuesday, a Chinese student attacked three 5-year-old children with a knife near a daycare in Zurich. Their companion, helped by a passer-by, managed to control the attacker while waiting for the police.
One of the three boys was seriously injured, but is no longer in danger of death, announces 20Minuten. The author of the attack has lived in Switzerland since 2023. He would have posted a strange message on Instagram before his action. He would talk about a romantic disappointment, sexual fantasies and his love for China and the Chinese Communist Party. The Zurich Public Prosecutor’s Office requested his preventive detention.
“Interrogated in detention, the accused confessed,” underlines the prosecution in a press release. “No indication has been given so far regarding accomplices or co-perpetrators. However, investigations are continuing intensively,” the authorities said.
The authorities have so far given no indication of the reasons which could have pushed the young man to attack this group of children who were going to a daycare not far from the scene of the attack.
