Child with colostomy will receive state aid

Representatives of the National Disability Council (Conadis), the Directorate of Special Education of the Ministry of Education (Minerd), and the Ministry of Public Works and Communications (Mopc) will visit Mrs. Awilda Sanchez, mother of the child who has never attended school due to her health condition.

A commission from these institutions verified Sánchez and will visit her at three in the afternoon this Tuesday to evaluate the conditions in which she lives, the infant’s health situation and articulate actions to help her.

Sánchez’s eight-year-old son has never been admitted to public school because he has a colostomy from birth.

The teachers informed the mother that they do not have the capacity to care for a child with this health condition and she and her other two children have been in charge of teaching him to read and write.
