Child Neglect Scandal in Krushovitsa: School Director and Teachers Violate Child Protection Act

We told you about the scandalous case of abuse and neglect of the 7-year-old child on December 13. According to official information, the girl was left to sleep in a non-residential building on tires and without heating in the village of Krushovitsa.

The social workers were contacted by a resident of the village in question, who suspected that the child had been subjected to domestic violence.

In the course of clarifying the case, it became clear that the girl shared at school that she was beaten by her stepfather, but she told this very calmly and gave the impression that she was making it up.

The teachers saw bruises and scratches on the child and this already made them suspicious. On November 21, the director decided that something should be done and, through a resident of the village, filed a report with the social service in Oryahovo.

When investigators entered the property where the child lived, they found that he was sleeping in a greenhouse with nylon walls and a cement floor. The girl has already been taken out of the family, and attends a new school in another town.

Deputy Minister of Labor Elka Nalbantova checked the conditions under which the child was accommodated. She visited the home of the girl’s uncle in Kozloduy, who took care of him from December 14.

The child is provided with very good living conditions, is enrolled in school and has a new personal doctor. He was bought everything he needed to adapt to the new environment as smoothly and smoothly as possible.

Social workers will visit the child every week and provide psychological support to his uncle’s family. The pedagogical advisor and the school psychologist will work with the girl regularly. The work will continue until the child is fully adapted.

The social services will work together with the representatives of the education system to establish whether there was violence against the child, said Deputy Minister Nalbantova.

The case will remain under the supervision of the Ministry of Social Affairs.
