In an accident in the district of Leipzig on Friday afternoon, a child was hit by a car and injured.

As police spokeswoman Therese Leverenz confirmed to TAG24, the officers were notified of the accident around 3:30 p.m.

According to initial findings, a six-year-old boy ran onto the street behind a stopping bus on the B176/Lausicker Straße in Colditz and was hit by a Peugeot of an 80-year-old.

He suffered serious injuries and had to be taken to a hospital. A rescue helicopter was also deployed.

There was property damage of around 2000 euros.

According to police traffic alerts, the road was fully closed during the accident investigation and rescue efforts.

The officials have started the investigation on suspicion of negligent bodily harm.
