A 9-year-old from Indiana found an envelope worth as much as $ 5,000 under a carpet in his father’s car while they were cleaning it.
Happy with this find, the young Landon quickly went to see his father to tell him that he had found something.
“While cleaning my father’s car, I looked under the carpet and found the package. I told my dad and he didn’t seem to care, ”he tells CNN.
“I didn’t care much,” admits Michael Melvin. He is nine years old. I said to myself, you found something. But he said ‘no, daddy, I really found something’. I went to look and when I saw it I thought it was paperwork. “

Realizing that he was hiding $ 5,000 in the envelope, Michael recounts running inside his house to call his wife.
“I called my wife and said ‘you have to see this’. We dumped the contents of the package onto the bed and the money fell, ”says Melvin.
Checks were also in the envelope.
The family bought this used car in September. The money presumably belongs to the previous owner, a family from South Carolina. In 2019, this family had traveled to Florida and had forgotten where they had hidden the sum, reports CNN.
Michael Melvin therefore took steps to find the owners of the money. But the latter only agreed to take back the sum on condition that the young Landon could keep $ 1,000 for his find.
Asked what he will do with his booty, the young boy has no idea.
“I do not know. I have it in my room. I can’t stop thinking about what I could buy, ”says Landon.
