Liputan6.com, Jakarta – The death of an 11 year old girl due to Bird flu New Clade 2.3.4.4b in Cambodia is causing concern in various countries. Even the World Health Organization (WHO) has issued a warning regarding the risk of transmitting the H5N1 virus to humans.
So, will Indonesia have restrictions on entry and travelers from/to Cambodia? The Head of the Bureau of Communication and Public Services of the Indonesian Ministry of Health, Siti Nadia Tarmizi, confirmed that so far there have been no restrictions.
Information from the Directorate General of Disease Prevention and Management (P2P) of the Indonesian Ministry of Health also stated that there were no flights or ships from Cambodia to Indonesia.
“Currently, there are no restrictions on travelers from Cambodia to Indonesia. Because until now, there have been no direct flights or passenger ships from Cambodia to Indonesia,” explained Nadia when contacted Health Liputan6.com via short message on Saturday, February 25, 2023.
Collect NBC NewsCambodian health officials said on Thursday (23/2/2023) that the case of an 11-year-old girl was the first known human H5N1 infection in Cambodia in nine years, namely since 2014.
The victim’s father also tested positive for the H5N1 virus, but showed no symptoms and 11 other close contacts were tested for samples in Prey Veng Province, east of Phnom Penh.
These results have not been disclosed and it is not known whether the girl’s father was infected through human-to-human transmission of the H5N1 virus or through contact with infected birds or animals.
