Child (4) from New Zealand calls police because he wants to show toys

A 4-year-old boy from Wellington has called the New Zealand national emergency number to show off his toys. The police have a recording of the phone call, in which the toddler can be heard talking about his toys.

When the boy is asked about the emergency he is calling about, he asks if he is talking to “the police lady”. When the operator confirms this, the toddler tells her to come over and check out his toys.

‘Cool toys’

The boy’s father takes over the conversation moments later. He explains that there is no emergency and that he had lost sight of the child for a while because he had to look after his other child as well.

The emergency center eventually sent an agent to the house. The toddler then showed his toys to police officer Kurt, who called the boy’s collection “cool.” The child was allowed to look at the police car and the officer briefly switched on the flashing lights.

He also spoke to the child and his parents about the proper use of the emergency number.
