You hand in your luggage at the check-in counter and watch it disappear on the rolling belt behind a dark curtain. And then? Just jump behind and take a ride on the baggage carousel?
A two-year-old boy did this at Hartsfield Jackson Airport in Atlanta in the US state of Georgia – and scared his mother as hell with it. Justified, as it turned out in retrospect.

The climbing was filmed by the surveillance cameras at the Spirit Airlines counter. The recordings show how the little one runs straight to the luggage belt and only a few moments later disappears behind the rubber curtain with a travel bag.

No trace of his mom Edith. She had left her son Lorenzo out of sight for a moment in order to print out the boarding passes at a nearby kiosk in the airport. When she checked on him it was already too late. This is reported by the local TV station “WSB-TV”.
It happened last Monday. On his odyssey, the little one first passed the scan area for luggage. The desperate attempt of the boy to get off the belt shows that the ride must have been more frightening than adventurous.

Without success. Only at the end of the conveyor belt did it land in the baggage hall of the US Transportation Safety Authority (TSA). Employees are said to have come to the rescue immediately.
The somewhat different transit is said to have taken around five minutes. For the mother, however, it must have felt like an eternity – a video from the police shows how she wraps her son Lorenzo in her arms.

Despite attempts by the police to distract him, he didn’t stop crying. Possible reason: the two-year-old was injured during the odyssey. A broken hand and small cuts on his arm were found at the hospital.
The reisereporter has asked Spirit Airlines and Atlanta Airport for a statement.
