Chikkamagaluru ∙ A woman was killed by her husband by mixing cyanide in her food after she objected to the affair. The incident took place last day in Chikkamagaluru district of Karnataka. Her husband Darshan was arrested in the case of the dead body of a young woman named Shweta at her residence in Devavrinda village.
Darshan had tried to make Shweta commit suicide by injecting herself with poison. It was also said that Shweta had a heart attack. But the parents felt abnormal in their daughter’s death and lodged a complaint with the police. Darshan’s attempt to cremate Shweta’s body before the family arrived also added to the suspicion.
The post-mortem report revealed that the death was not due to heart attack. The crime unfolded when the police took Darshan into custody and interrogated him. The accused admitted that he killed Shweta. Shweta and Darshan, who were in love since their college days, got married three years ago. There was a rift in the marriage when Darshan became intimate with another young woman at work.
Shweta called this young woman and warned her not to continue her relationship with Darshan. Enraged by this, Darshan decided to kill his wife. Gonibidu Police informed that cyanide was added to ragiunda and given to Shweta and the young woman died by consuming this.
