Spanish Sports Newspaper claim that Federico Chiesa has agreed personal terms with Barcelona on a reduced salary, as Juventus are set to be sold for potentially less than €15m.
The Italian international is excluded from the Juve squad as he is not part of coach Thiago Motta’s plans and his contract only runs until the end of the current campaign.
He was told to find a new club and is expecting a Champions League team, so not keen when Roma and Napoli made an approach.
Chiesa and Juventus accept Barcelona as their best bet
According to Diario Sport, Chiesa realizes that he has very few alternatives and therefore cannot continue to demand a salary of 7 million euros per season.
In fact, they say he is accepting a reduction on the current €5m salary he earns at Juventus, willing to sign for €4.5m if Barcelona can guarantee him a three-year contract.
They now need to reach an agreement with Juventus, who stand to make a net loss on the former Fiorentina man for less than €15m but are prepared to do so just to get him off their books.
The total cost between package and bonuses cannot exceed 14 million euros for the Blaugrana.
Agent Fali Ramadani was in Spain to discuss terms and appears to have worked to keep everyone happy.
