Chiefs aim to become first two-time champion since 2004

For the second year in a row, those led by Patrick Mahomes are in the most important game of the season, but this time there is something different, something that drives them more, because the Kansas City Chiefs are looking for the two-time championship, something that has not happened for more 15 years.

They will face the Tampa Bay Buccaneers.

It will not be an easy duel and there are two reasons for that. The first is that they will play against Tom Brady, the most winning quarterback in history and the second, Super Bowl LV will be at Raymond James Stadium, home of the Buccaneers, being the first time that a team plays at home.

Despite that, the Chiefs have everything to win or at least that’s what the bets say, since the current champions are the favorites to take the two-time championship. If they succeed, they would have broken a 16-year streak without someone else succeeding.

The Patriots were the last to do it.

It just so happens that Tom Brady was the last to be a two-time NFL champion. It was in 2003 and 2004, but since then only a couple of teams have made it to the Super Bowl twice in a row and both lost.

The first were the Seattle Seahawks, who could not repeat their championship in 2014 against the Patriots after an interception on the last play and the second were just those of New England who lost to the Philadelphia Eagles in 2017.

Mahomes wants to break that streak.

The Kansas City Chiefs are looking for the two-time championship, something that has not happened in the league since 2004 and also, it would be with greater pride to achieve it, because it would be right against the last QB -Tom Brady- who had achieved it.
