In Novosibirsk, the chief pulmonologist Kudelya called the main symptoms of COPD
In the Novosibirsk region, chronic obstructive pulmonary disease was diagnosed in 15.5 thousand residents.
The chief pulmonologist of the Novosibirsk region Lyubov Kudelya listed the symptoms of chronic obstructive pulmonary disease (COPD). In the region, such a diagnosis was made to 15.5 thousand inhabitants.
“The main symptoms are not specific – cough, shortness of breath, shortness of breath and increased fatigue. A wet cough that does not go away for several months is a reason to suspect COPD. When shortness of breath appears, this is already an advanced disease,” the doctor explained.
According to a pulmonologist, 90% of patients with COPD are smokers. Therefore, they associate the appearance of cough and shortness of breath with a bad habit, they seek medical help late.
COPD is diagnosed after examination and examinations, with obligatory spirometry – a study of the function of external respiration. Further treatment is prescribed.
Lyubov Kudelya noted that COPD has a high mortality rate. The sooner a person sees a doctor, the higher the chance of a cure.
“Irreversible changes cannot be cured, of course. But with early detection of lung tissue obstruction, well-chosen therapy and the elimination of disease-causing factors, the prognosis will be favorable, ”Lubov Kudelya emphasizes.
In addition to smoking, COPD provokes poor ecology and the use of coal for heating houses.
Recall that on May 6, smog appeared in the air in Novosibirsk due to natural fires.
