Moers / Mülheim an der Ruhr. Section for Plastic, Reconstructive and Aesthetic Surgery and Hand Surgery at the Bethanien Hospital has a new management team
In mid-March, the already existing wide range of operations in the Bethanien Hospital was expanded. Dr. Christian Soimaru, who has been chief physician at the Evangelical Hospital in Mülheim for 10 years, is expanding the specialist area of plastic, reconstructive and aesthetic surgery as well as the specialist area of hand surgery in the newly filled section as medical director.
The focus of his work – at both locations – is on reconstructive surgery. The doctor understands this to mean, among other things, the reconstruction of the female breast with the body’s own tissue after breast cancer or the reconstruction of the facial area after removal of malignant skin tumors as well as the restoration of the entire body after trauma and infection. “Primarily it is not about aesthetic aspects, but rather that the patient regains lost bodily functions. Nevertheless, the patient concerned will judge the result of every functional reconstruction from an aesthetic point of view, ”explains Dr. Christian Soimaru.
Another major focus is hand surgery: Here the diagnosis and treatment options have continuously developed over the past few years. Many common diseases such as osteoarthritis of the thumb saddle joint, nerve compression syndromes such as carpal tunnel syndrome or Kutscher disease fall into this field.
“We are very pleased that a valued colleague from Mülheim is now enriching and expanding our portfolio here at the Bethanien Hospital with his expertise after the management of this section was temporarily unoccupied,” explains Dr. Ralf Engels, Chairman of the Bethanien Hospital Foundation. “It is particularly important to me that the patients are not only treated medically, but also feel that they are in good hands,” explains Dr. Christian Soimaru. In the future, he would like to expand the area of microsurgery: “This is the top of reconstruction. This requires a high level of expertise in nursing, in the operating theater and in the medical field. All the prerequisites for this are given at Bethanien. I’m looking forward to a successful and exciting collaboration in Moers. “
In the Evangelical Hospital Mülheim, Dr. Christian Soimaru, head physician at the Clinic for Plastic, Reconstructive and Aesthetic Surgery and Hand Surgery since April 2011. After studying at the Ruhr University in Bochum, he worked as a specialist at the Bergmannsheil University Clinic. His path led him, among other things, as a senior physician to the professional association accident clinic in Ludwigshafen, the largest plastic surgery clinic in Germany. The doctor lives with his wife, a pediatrician, and their three children in Mülheim an der Ruhr.
