Jeroen Tiebout, the head of cabinet to Flemish Minister of Education Ben Weyts (N-VA), will be the new government commissioner at the VRT. He replaces Rudi De Kerpel. This confirms the cabinet of Media Minister Benjamin Dalle (CD&V).

The government commissioner checks whether the VRT complies with the management agreement with Flanders. Last month, Rudi De Kerpel offered his resignation, after it was announced that he supplied his companies to the VRT.

He provided bouquets and reusable cups for the VRT event ‘De Warmste Week’. In a screening of Audit Flanders this was stated under the heading ‘breach of integrity’.
De Kerpel is now replaced by Jeroen Tiebout. For many years he was spokesperson for Ben Weyts, after which he became the cabinet secretary of the minister, then of Mobility. He is still chief of staff, a position he will continue to hold.
