Thiruvananthapuram: Chief Minister Pinarayi Vijayan said that ideas for the good of humanity should be used in the medium of cinema, but some forces are trying to spread evil at the national level. The Chief Minister was speaking at the Kerala State Film Awards ceremony.
Cinema moves the country and the era forward. Films like MT’s ‘Nirmalyam’ are like that. But, movies like that don’t happen anymore. Cinema lives in a time of abuse. Nowadays cinema is used on a national level to bring up the decadence of the past. Trying to bring back casteism, feudal system and Chaturvarna. There are films that suppress the advancement of femininity and reinforce patriarchy. An attempt is made to mature the minds of the people to cooperate with the suppression of the Renaissance values.
Kochu Kerala stands as the trembling light of this darkness. Kerala of equality, brotherhood and secularism. A film was promoted as the story of Kerala. An attempt to destroy Kerala’s secularism, make it the land of Love Jihad and make it appear in front of the world. Cinema is used as a weapon of propaganda. This is not an isolated incident. Filmmakers should come forward to convey the best image of Kerala to the whole world – said the Chief Minister.
