According to Arif, in their verdict, the panel of judges stated that the evidence against Gazalba in the bribery case at the Supreme Court was not strong. Meanwhile, the KPK prosecutor believes that the evidence they have in their pocket is strong enough to charge Gazalba.
“The main point of the panel’s consideration is that there is not enough evidence. But if we look at it, we are sure that the evidence, especially the witnesses and then the instructions, in our opinion are strong enough to prove our indictment of what we suspect of the defendant. However, the panel of judges considered otherwise, we will peel it off later, we will deepen this decision,” he said.
Gazalba Saleh has been charged with 11 years in prison in the vortex of the bribery case at the Supreme Court. It is believed that Gazalba was jointly involved in influencing the criminal cassation decision of KSP Intidana Chairman Budiman Gandi Suparman.
Gazalba is believed to have violated Article 12 letter C in conjunction with Article 18 of Law Number 31 of 1999 concerning the Eradication of Corruption Crimes as amended by Law Number 20 of 2001 concerning Amendments to Law Number 31 of 1999 concerning the Eradication of Corruption Crimes Jo Article 55 paragraph (1) of the 1st Criminal Code, as the first alternative indictment.
Gazalba was accused of receiving money worth 20 thousand Singapore dollars (SGD) out of a total of SGD 110 thousand to handle the criminal appeal of KSP Intidana. The illicit money was used to influence Gazalba’s decision to jail Budiman Gandhi Suparman for 5 years.
