The city of Chicago recorded a notable increase in homicides in 2020 after three consecutive years of declining violence, according to official data released Friday.
The Police Department reported that 769 homicides were registered last year, compared to 495 in 2019, to which must be added the 4,033 gunshot wounds in shootings mainly carried out by gang members (2,598 in 2019).
