Chicago Churches Hosting Easter Egg Hunts and Events for the Community

Chicago.- There are several activities in the Chicago community that take place during Holy Week.

For example, two Austin area churches they will hold Easter egg hunts to entertain and give gifts to the neighbors.

Good Hope Free Will Baptist Church will hold its annual Easter Egg Event Saturday at Altgeld Park, 515 S. Washtenaw Ave., from 1-3 pm.

Pastor Cornelius Parks said he expects it to be the largest Easter egg hunt the church has ever hosted, with organizers offering $2,700 in meals for attendees, $5,000 in supplies, Easter eggs and baskets, and children’s activities.

Around 1,000 people are expected to participate and there will be 50,000 eggs to collect, Parks said.

Also, Grace and Peace Church will hold their ‘Easter Eggstravaganza’ Sunday at the North Austin Center, 1841 N. Laramie Ave., from noon to 2:30 pm.

This is a family and community event that features a 10,000 egg hunt and $8,000 worth of food from Taqueria La Paz for attendees, organizers said.

Those who wish to attend the event ‘Easter Eggstravaganza’ which is free must register online. The baskets will be delivered in order of arrival.
