Ball initially underwent surgery on his meniscus before undergoing another operation in September 2022. This was followed by a third operation in March 2023, in which cartilage tissue was transplanted. He ultimately spent the 2023-24 season on the sidelines.
Ball moved from the New Orleans Pelicans to the Chicago Bulls in the summer of 2021 and then integrated seamlessly into his new team. The Bulls immediately became one of the top teams in the East, but after his injury they fell to sixth place and failed in the first round of the playoffs against the Bucks (1-4). In the past two years, the Bulls missed the playoffs completely.

Ball has exercised his player option for the coming season in the amount of 21.4 million US dollars, and will become an unrestricted free agent in the summer of 2025. Accordingly, the 26-year-old is now playing for a new NBA contract.
It will be interesting to see how Ball will adapt to the Bulls after his comeback. With Josh Giddey, Chicago has only signed one point guard who resembles Ball’s player profile.
Over the course of his career, Ball averages 11.9 points, 5.7 rebounds and 6.2 assists, with his shooting percentages improving over the years.
