After this weekend’s debacle, changes had to be made.
According to Tom Pelisserothe Bears fired the offensive coordinator, Shane Waldron.
Chicago has lost three straight and has only scored 27 points in those three losses. The Bears offense went 23 consecutive possessions without scoring a touchdown. All these statistics, added to the dissatisfaction of the players and the difficulties encountered on this side of the ball since the start of the season, led to the ouster of Waldron.
Waldron, 44, began his coaching career with the Patriots as offensive quality control coach in 2008 before touring the college ranks with UMass from 2012-15.
Washington hired him as offensive quality control coach in 2016 before joining the Rams in 2017 as TEs coach. He was quickly promoted to passing game coordinator the following season. The Seahawks then hired Waldron as offensive coordinator in 2021. After three years in that role, he joined the Bears as offensive coordinator last offseason.
In 2024, the Bears offense ranks 30th in total yards, 24th in points scored, 24th in rushing yards and 30th in passing yards.
Bears passing game coordinator Thomas Brown is expected to take over for Waldron, according to Pelissero. He was the Panthers’ offensive coordinator last year and took over play calling around the same time.
