American drag queen Chi Chi DeVayne, contestant in the eighth season of reality series RuPaul’s Drag Race, is deceased. She was 34 years old and died of pneumonia.

Zavion Davenport, as Chi Chi really is called, became famous after her participation in the competition show RuPaul’s Drag Race. In it, the participants compete for the title of ‘best drag queen’ under the watchful eye of RuPaul, known since the nineties.
In the eighth season, Chi Chi finished fourth, but then she was allowed to come back for the third season of All Stars. In it, drag queens who already participated, but did not win, compete against each other. Fans remember the ‘cheap queen’ mainly because of her performance on the song ‘And I am telling you I’m not going’.

This week, Chi Chi was hospitalized with pneumonia. She had contracted it while being treated for kidney failure after treatment for scleroderma last month. On August 15, Chi Chi on Instagram asked to pray for her. “I’ll be back soon.”
Support and nice words for Chi Chi are raining on social media. It is not the first participant to die: in 2012, Sahara Davenport, a participant from the second season, also died from heart failure.
