Former Miss USA Cheslie Kryst, 30, was found dead on a street this Sunday in New York, authorities confirmed.
The body of the former queen, who represented the United States in 2019, was found lying on a street in front of her residence at 350 west with 42nd street in Manhattan around 7:30 a.m.
The New York City Police said they responded to the location in Manhattan, where the 30-year-old resided.
Upon arrival, they found her unconscious in the street. Paramedics pronounced her dead at the scene.
Although the authorities are still investigating the facts, they reported that Kryst could “have died by apparent suicide” by possibly jumping from the building.
“May this day bring you rest and peace,” the former queen and lawyer wrote in her latest Instagram post.
Cheslie Kryst was at the time a correspondent for the entertainment news program “Extra.” The North Carolina attorney also won the Miss USA pageant in May 2019 and competed in the Miss Universe pageant that year.
The young woman’s relatives confirmed her death in a statement and mourned her tragic death.
“It is with devastation and great sorrow that we share the passing of our beloved Cheslie,” the family said in the statement. “Its great light was what inspired others around the world with its beauty and strength. He cared, loved, laughed and shone. Cheslie embodied love and service to others, whether through her work as an attorney fighting for social justice, as Miss USA, and as the host of EXTRA. But most importantly, as a daughter, sister, friend, mentor, and colleague, we know her impact will live on.”
