PT Chery Sales Indonesia (CSI) is currently developing electric MPV car for the Indonesian market. The vehicle will most likely play in the intermediate or beginner class (entry level).
Zeng Shuo as Assistant President Director of PT CSI said, even though they often launch SUV cars in Indonesia, that doesn’t mean they don’t pay more attention to other segments, including MPV.
Now, Chery is preparing to wait for the birth of a new electric and petrol MPV car in Indonesia. However, Shuo has not been able to explain in more detail about the model and leaked specifications. Because, everything is still in the development stage.
“Yes, we have that plan (to sell electric MPVs in Indonesia). We have prepared a special MPV car for the Indonesian market. Not just electric, we are also developing a petrol MPV to be sold here,” said Zeng Shuo in a special interview with detikOto in Kebayoran Baru, South Jakarta.

When asked for the exact date, Shuo could not reveal it definitively. However, what is clear is that the MPV electric car will launch in Indonesia as early as next year.
“I think, maybe in 2025 or 2026 you will see that car in Indonesia. So, not this year,” he said.
Previously, the President Director of PT CSI, Shawn Xu, also spoke about the possibility of selling electric MPVs in Indonesia. At that time, or to be precise last year, he said, this segment was still the sexiest in the country. So, as a car company, they have to go there.
“MPV is still a unique segment in Indonesia. This is very special, many people like it. Chery is currently focusing on SUVs, but in the future we will introduce MPVs,” said Shawn Xu to detikOto in South Tangerang.
For the record, Chery will introduce the first electric car in Indonesia next week, namely the Omoda E5. These non-emission vehicles are assembled domestically with local content reaching more than 40 percent. According to news circulating, the Omoda E5 will be priced at IDR 500 million.
