Chery Omoda 7 Crossover Unveiled for International Markets: Specs, Features, and Release Date

This car was not shown at the Beijing Motor Show, as the Omoda brand was created by Chery specifically for export markets. Instead, the Omoda 7 crossover was debuted at a separate event at the Chery headquarters, which was held at the show especially for journalists from different countries.

Like the younger model Mod C5 a radiator grille is fitted into the front bumper, but of a different shape and pattern. In size, the new Omoda is significantly larger than the Chery Tiggo 7 Pro Max and Jaecoo J7, although the difference with the Jetour Dashing SUV on the same platform is small: length – 4621 mm, width – 1872 mm, height – 1673 mm, and wheelbase – 2700 mm.

The interior design is also known as Dashing: the “Seven” is controlled by a large 15.6-inch diagonal media system screen, and in front of the driver there is a much smaller instrument display. The design of the two-spoke steering wheel is inspired by a gaming controller. The central tunnel houses cup holders, a dual wireless charging pad and a block of analog keys and switches. Already in the “base” there is an audio system with twelve speakers, two of which are built into the driver’s headrest.

So far, the Omoda 7 has only appeared as a plug-in hybrid with a total range of 1,200 km, although it can only travel 95 km on electric power. However, the technology here is the same as other Chery models: turbo-four 1.5 petrol (156 hp, 220 Nm), traction electric motor (170 hp, 315 Nm) and three-speed DHT robotic transmission. On the Tiggo 7, this combination develops a total of 326 hp. and 510 Nm, and all traction is transferred only to the front axle.

The new Omoda 7 SUV has already been confirmed to hit international markets next year. It will also arrive in Russia, where it will likely have a C7 index. In addition, the full premiere should take place before the end of this year.
