Chery J6 Electric Car Enthusiasts in Indonesia: A Community of Hard Workers

Chery Aims to Electrify Indonesia’s Workforce with Rugged J6 SUV

Jakarta, Indonesia – Chery has thrown its hat in the electrified off-road ring, introducing the J6, the country’s first all-electric SUV built for tough terrains. But Chery isn’t just chasing thrill-seekers; they’re aiming to revolutionize Indonesia’s agricultural and mining sectors by offering entrepreneurs a reliable and eco-friendly workhorse.

"They feel safer. They feel safer if they take it anywhere," said Zeng Shuo, Vice President Director of Chery Sales Indonesia (CSI), explaining the appeal to businesses operating in challenging environments. “He has a palm oil plantation, they also want this, they already want to use an electric car… but with the electric cars that’s on the market right now [before the release of the J6] they don’t want to take it anywhere – anywhere, just in urban areas.”

The Chery J6 appears to answer these concerns head-on. Built with a robust aluminum frame and equipped to handle water crossings up to 60cm deep, the J6 promises to conquer Indonesian’s diverse landscapes.

This impressive capability has led to a surge in interest from outside major cities. "Because the profile is really off-road, well, in the regions there is really a lot of demand," states Rifkie Setiawan, CSI’s Head of Brand Division. "Because, in that area, there are a lot of roads that are not as good as big cities… yes, that means in Sumatra, or indeed in, what Mr. Zeng Shuo said earlier, in agribusiness companies, and also in mining companies.”

With a 69.77 kWh battery offering a claimed range of 418 km in the iWD type and 426 km in the RWD type, the J6 boasts practical functionality alongside its ruggedness. The inclusion of extensive safety features, including a comprehensive battery security system, battery protection, an aluminum alloy frame, H-Arm Aluminum suspension, and up to 6 airbags, solidifies the J6’s position as a reliable option for Indonesian businesses.

The introduction of the Chery J6 signals a potential shift in the Indonesian automotive landscape, blurring the lines between leisure vehicles and rugged workhorses capable of handling demanding conditions. As the world shifts toward sustainable practices, the J6’s arrival offers a compelling option for businesses looking to embrace electrification without sacrificing practicality.
