Cher’s Request for Temporary Conservatorship Over Son Elijah Blue Allman Denied by Judge

Cher’s Temporary Conservatorship Over Son Elijah Blue Allman Denied

Cher’s request for a temporary emergency conservatorship over son Elijah Blue Allman has been denied, according to a recent ruling in the Los Angeles Superior Court.

The court hearing, which occurred on January 29, saw Judge Jessica A. Uzcategui rule against Cher’s petition for an immediate conservatorship. Uzcategui determined that such a conservatorship is not urgently necessary as Allman has shown that he is capable of managing his own finances.

Allman, aged 47, has demonstrated responsible financial behavior, maintains a stable living arrangement, and has maintained sobriety by passing several drug tests. However, Uzcategui will further consider a long-term conservatorship for Allman in a future hearing in March.

Concerns Over Allman’s Well-being

Cher, who had filed for a temporary conservatorship last month, outlined in court documents her concerns regarding Allman’s mental health and substance abuse issues. She stated that he is currently “substantially unable to manage his own financial resources.” Allman is set to inherit assets from a trust established by his late father, Gregg Allman, which Cher fears he may misuse or spend on drugs, putting his life at risk.

Cher further expressed concerns about Allman’s wife, Marieangela King, stating that their relationship had been tumultuous, marked by drug addiction and mental health issues. Cher believes she is the best person to manage Allman’s conservatorship, as she has actively sought treatment for him and has always acted in his best interests.

Marital Reconciliation and Continuing Legal Proceedings

Allman had previously filed for divorce from King in November 2021 after almost eight years of marriage. However, earlier this month, he filed for the dismissal of his divorce petition, as he reconciled with King. It is reported that the couple is currently working on their marriage.

A judge recently denied the dismissal due to a temporary order for spousal support that remains in place. Further legal proceedings on the divorce are expected to follow.

Allman’s Independence

In recently filed paperwork, Allman detailed his reasons for not requiring his mother, Cher, to be his conservator. According to the documents, Allman is committed to responsibly controlling payments from his trust. He asserts that he is currently sober, paying his bills, and fully capable of managing his own affairs.
