Polish Studio Farm 51 has been working on Chernobylite 2: Exclusion Zone for several years now – continuing the atmospheric shooting with horror elements. And in the sequel, the developers promise big changes: the game moves into the RPG genre with an open world and support for cooperative multiplayer.
At the end of August, in an interview with WCCFTech at Gamescom 2024, development director Wojciech Pazdur shared details about the game. Here is the most interesting thing they said.

The world is 20 times bigger: the open world of the exclusion zone has been expanded 20 times compared to the first game

Increased completion time: the plot takes 2-3 times longer

Transition to RPG genre: The game offers a deep role-playing system with six main features

New characters and factions: more interaction with characters, the presence of groups and the ability to influence their attitude towards the player

Multiplayer co-op: the ability to play missions and boss battles together

Mechanics “Gliding”: The ability to summon other versions of yourself from other dimensions to change your character on the fly

Third person perspective: Main mode – third person, with optional first person view to explore

Improved graphics: moving to Unreal Engine 5 and using Nanite technologies for a more detailed world

New locations: additional dungeons, high towers and unique structures to explore

Effect of weather and time of day: Dynamic changes that affect gameplay and enemy behavior

Expanded combat system: Better melee combat and more dynamic battles

Optimized for modern platforms: DLSS and FSR support for better performance on modern graphics cards
The game is being developed for PC, PlayStation 5 and Xbox Series, and is scheduled to be released in the fall of 2025.
