Almost discarded personal records and first level brands, The New York Half Marathon will be held this Sunday with a rivalry that is gaining more and more packaging. Joshua Cheptegei and Jacob Kiplimo, who train together in their country, Uganda, and are united by a great friendship, will be two of the main centers of attention in the most mediatic Media in the United States. In the Big Apple and on a circuit full of seesaws, two of the best long-distance runners of the moment promise a good show.
Both have been in the New York city for a few days and have even been sightseeing. Although when it comes to competing, obviously, the surroundings will be the least of it. They are two ‘beasts’ who only think about winning and emptying themselves out on the asphalt. In the only precedent that they have coincided in a half marathon, Kiplimo won ahead of his compatriot. It was at the World Half Marathon in Poland, in Gdynia.
Kiplimo warns of the circuit
“I’m happy to compete together with Joshua,” Kiplimo, the world record holder for the half marathon, said with a relaxed smile. “On Sunday we are going to give our best, I am going to give my best”, adds Jacob. At 22 years old, he has the bottom world at his feet. “I think it will be very difficult, but actually for me it is not that difficult because we will be running up and down. It is almost the same as a cross circuit ”, he adds.
