Chennaiyin begin strong with a crushing win as Rahim Ali scores two goals to shine

Manjeri: Chennaiyin FC win their first Super Cup Group D match. Chennaiyin defeated Northeast United by four goals to two.

Julius Vincent Ducker and Edwin Wanspall scored for Chennai in a match where Rahim Ali scored a brace. Rochersela and Laldenmavia Ralthe were the scorers for Northeast.

Chennaiyin took the lead in the 17th minute through Rahim Ali. Wafa Hakamaneshi crossed from the right wing and Ali headed it into the back of the net.

Chennaiyin took the lead in the 33rd minute through Edwin Wanspoel. Akash Sangwan headed the ball to Edwin with a left-footed volley.

Northeast’s reply came in the 42nd minute. North East captain Wilmer Jordan’s shot at the post was blocked by goalkeeper Samik Mitra in Chennai, but the ball rebounded and Rochersela put it into the net.

Then in the 51st minute, Chennaiyin scored the third goal through Julius Vincent Dakar. Ducker’s goal was from a corner taken by Akash Sangwan.

Rahim Ali rounded off Chennai’s tally with a second header in the 82nd minute as Northeast attempted a comeback. Later in the injury time, Laldenmavia Ralthe scored the second goal of North East from the cross of Malayalee Emil Benny.
