During the Universiade, the traffic in the Universiade Village, Dong’an Lake Sports Center and the main arterial area in charge of his squadron was safe and orderly, and there was no traffic accident of rear-end collision. He said that these are actually the results of the joint efforts of all citizens, and we should be most grateful for the cooperation of the general public and friends, who have demonstrated the civilized quality of Chengdu citizens.

Yang Jianqiong is a grassroots sanitation worker born in the 1980s who has been in the industry for 10 years in Longquanyi District. She is mainly responsible for cleaning the Universiade Village and the surrounding grounds. She has to clean up nearly 200 bags of black plastic bags of garbage in the parking lot of the Universiade Village every day, and put the dozens of catties of garbage on the garbage truck. In addition, she is also responsible for cleaning the 8-kilometer-long road near the Universiade Village and collecting garbage at dozens of security points. Under the scorching heat, 15 hours of outdoor work a day, leaving early and returning late is just to brighten up the city. At the event site, the son who was traveling abroad specially gave his mother a cup of mung bean soup to cool off the heat.

Kang Xinmeng, who played the role of “Rong Bao” at the opening ceremony, is a dancer. Although the rehearsal and work of playing “Rong Bao” was very hard and she couldn’t show her face, she was also very happy. She has always had a wish, that is, to be able to leave her own figure on the stage. At the party, Xinmeng was given a chance to show off her stage performance, which left a good memory for her youthful performance. Dai Chi, a sophomore student, is a volunteer of the “Tennis Ball Boy” in the Universiade. He picks up and passes the ball, quickly wipes the field after the rain with a towel, and wears out a pair of shoes in 3 days. They have no time to hold a wedding because they are busy with the work of the Universiade. They told the story of how they turned the time of Universiade into the youth of life, growing and blossoming. The party held a special wedding for them. The 50-year-old “Chengdu dragging sister” Wu Qiong is the “sister” of Chengdu who provides special car services for the South Korean delegation and the Colombian delegation. A long braid and “vehicle guitar” have become the labels of “Chengdu dragging sister”. On the eve of the Universiade, she taught herself oral English in order to better convey the enthusiasm of Chengdu; during the Universiade, her car was called “the latest car”, and she would wash the car brand new after work every day. The former always walks barefoot with shoes on; after handing in a tip of 1,600 yuan from foreign delegations, she said: “We don’t have a cultural tradition of thank you fees, and we are very happy for their recognition of our services, but this is our What should be done, even if it is because of our good service, we should not accept the rewards. We must win glory for the country! We must let foreign friends know that we are a strictly disciplined transportation security team!”

Their stories illustrate the actions of ordinary Chengdu people for this grand event, presenting to the world a version of the Chengdu era where “guests come from afar”.

At the end of the event, volunteer representatives of the Chengdu Universiade, representatives of Chengdu citizens, and representatives from all walks of life shared their stories about participating in the Universiade, and recited the situational poem “The Universiade has me, the Universiade has us” to pay tribute to all the hard work, I would like to express my heartfelt thanks and high respect to all the citizens who have made selfless dedication.
