Ruslan CEMIRTAN, MEDIC CHIRURG VASCULAR/ENDOVASCULAR: “Liver cancer is a widespread oncological disease. It is the most common visceral cancer, i.e. from the abdominal cavity, because it appears as a natural consequence of liver cirrhosis or viral hepatitis. It is ranked 6th in terms of cancer mortality on the world map, being a fairly widespread pathology in the Republic of Moldova as well.”
Transarterial chemoembolization is an interventional procedure used in the treatment of liver cancer. This offers patients an alternative to liver transplantation.
Ruslan CEMIRTAN, MEDIC CHIRURG VASCULAR/ENDOVASCULAR: “The definitive method of treatment is only liver transplantation. The TACE procedure is an alternative for patients who are on the transplant list and gives them a real chance to reach the transplant while stopping the cancer. It is a procedure that is offered to patients who have already undergone liver resection surgery and the cancer has recurred. Also, the procedure is indicated when neither transplantation nor liver resection can be performed as a treatment measure in the general arsenal of measures.”
Eduard BERNAZ, MEDIC CHIRURG VASCULAR/ENDOVASCULAR: “Hypothetically speaking, we have a case of a patient who has liver cancer and must undergo a liver transplant. But the waiting period is long. In this case, we can come up with this method that allows us to extend the waiting time for the liver transplant.”
This procedure can be performed under local or general anesthesia and can be performed on an outpatient basis, which means that patients can be discharged the same day.
Chiropractic – what does it consist of and when do we need it? What the physical therapist, Cristian Pinzari, says about this procedure – VIDEO
Ruslan CEMIRTAN, MEDIC CHIRURG VASCULAR/ENDOVASCULAR: “With the patient lying on the angiography table, under local anesthesia, the main artery of the right leg or right hand is accessed, under the control of the angiographer, under Roenghen rays. Using contrast substances, we navigate through the blood vessels, reach the abdominal cavity and select the hepatic artery. We install a special catheter in this artery and introduce the contrast substance, an iodized substance that can be seen on Roentgen, which shows us how the liver’s vascularization is and which blood vessel, the artery, takes the blood to the cancer. We mount a microcatheter, a very small, very flexible catheter, up to that vessel of the cancer, and through this microcatheter we introduce special microparticles of sub-millimetre size soaked with chemotherapy preparation into the cancer artery.”
Eduard BERNAZ, MEDIC CHIRURG VASCULAR/ENDOVASCULAR: “It works through 2 mechanisms: the first mechanism introduces microparticles into the hepatic artery that feed the tumor and block the supply of nutrients and oxygen to the tumor and prevent tumor growth. The second mechanism is when the chemotherapeutic preparation is introduced directly into the tumor and the concentration of the device is higher than if it were a systemic chemotherapy.”
Ruslan CEMIRTAN, MEDIC CHIRURG VASCULAR/ENDOVASCULAR: “It is a very good alternative to systemic chemotherapy, which consists in the fact that the patient is subjected to 4-6 chemotherapy courses with various adverse effects. In the case of given chemotherapy, the systemic preparation is not introduced, so it does not have a harmful effect on the whole body and is concentrated by means of microparticles only at the level of the cancer and acts only locally.”
Detecting parasites: An important step for your health. What the therapist-nutritionist, Mariana Verbina, says: “The simplest investigation that indicates the presence of parasites is the general blood test” – VIDEO
Olesea CECHIR, PRO TV REPORTER, PUBLIC HEALTH SPECIALIST: “The method offers the patient the advantage of a minimally invasive treatment with good results, minimal adverse reactions, a short hospitalization period and the possibility of being repeated in case of recurrence of the tumor or in case of the appearance of new tumors.”
Transarterial chemoembolization is a treatment procedure for liver cancer that is widely used in countries with a high level of development and is considered an essential element in the standard treatment of this condition, according to modern medical guidelines. It is important to emphasize that each case is unique and requires an individual evaluation by a specialist doctor. The treatment must be adapted according to the general state of health of the patient, the characteristics of the tumor and other related health problems.
