Chemie Greiz dives for the silver “star of sport”

Greiz/Erfurt. On September 17th, the makers of the Chemie Greiz diving club look spellbound towards Erfurt. The winners of the regional “Stars of Sports” competition have hope.

With their project “Green Dive – in community for the environment”, the divers of TC Chemie Greiz have won the local “Star of Sports” in the Greiz district. The Greiz divers were able to receive the “bronze star” – awarded by Volksbank Vogtland – a few days ago in the “Leisure Park Plohn”. The project is the further development of the Greiz diving club’s usual holiday activities in the first week of the summer holidays, which took place for the thirtieth time this year.

Nationally networked for campfire romance

“It was about national networking with the friendly diving club from Nordhausen at the Rothenburger Kiessee. Little Greizer, Jena, Nordhausen, Weimar and Dresden divers came together there to train together in fin swimming, orientation diving and diving. We sleep in tents close to nature to strengthen the sense of community. Eating together and having a romantic campfire were also on the agenda,” reports Ina Kupke from the diving club.

There was a simple outdoor car wash and the participants’ mothers cooked their own food. Fun and games shouldn’t be neglected during holiday leisure, but the marine ecosystem is of course always a focus for divers. The supervisors teach the children and young people about topics such as separating waste or avoiding throwing away food – so an ecological, educational side track is pursued alongside sport. “The participants go together to collect rubbish. This should help to be in harmony with nature and the environment. “The holiday camp also tries to avoid social media in order to focus on nature and the environment,” reports Ina Kupke.

In the Thuringian state finals, everyone will be reaching for the stars

Around 30 to 40 participants go to the Greiz divers’ holiday camp every year. Up to a hundred people from Greiz were there at weddings, reports Ina Kupka, who is responsible for the association’s public relations and sponsorship projects. The Greiz divers are now hoping for the next coup on October 17th. Then the chemical divers will definitely not dive, but rather after a “Silver Star of Sport” at the Thuringian state finals.
