Magdalena Eriksson was involved from the start in Chelsea’s big win against Manchester United and the deadlock in the match was broken after just two minutes. Fran Kirby showed proof of efficiency when the Manchester United defenders were careless and served her to 1-0. A goal that was Kirby’s 50th Super League career.
In the 24th minute, it picked up speed again. For real.
Dane Pernille Harder offered a delicious solo raid from halfway when she ran past three defenders and then lobbed the ball over the goalkeeper and into goal.
A few minutes before half time, it was time for a new defense offer. The home team’s Aoife Mannion played on midfielder Katie Zelem who was responsible for a weak rebound and Chelsea were able to intercept the ball, which Samantha Kerr finally poked into goal.
In the second half, United reduced, but the blue-clad were not finished. Kerr scored his second of the day in the 51st minute and teammate Drew Spence jumped in and put it 5-1, before Jessie Fleming completed the final score to 6-1.
Jonna Andersson was replaced in the 58th and Zecira Musovic sat on the bench in the overtaking, which meant Chelsea’s second victory in three matches.
Manchester United will face Birmingham in the next round, while Chelsea take on Brighton.
