Mauricio Pochettino is yet to finalize the details of his contract to become Chelsea manager from next summer but, according to The Sun, Mauricio Pochettino already has two requests from the club’s bosses. They are two players from Brentford: Barcelona goalkeeper David Raya (twice selected for the Spanish national team) and England striker Ivan Toney (who has scored 19 Premiership goals, behind the 33 of “pichichi” Erling Haaland and Harry Kane’s 24).
David Raya has played every minute in the current Premiership and made 136 saves. His contract with Brentford ends this summer. Toney is an excellent penalty taker, has a great presence in the air and helps in defense.
In effect, Pochettino asked Chelsea to have full control over transfers, decision-making power over youngsters with a chance of promotion to the first team and rules regarding the dressing room: no dressing room visits.
Next week it is expected to be announced that Pochettino will be in charge of Chelsea from this summer. Despite five defeats in five games in charge of the Blues, Frank Lampard will remain caretaker manager at Stamford Bridge until the end of the season.
