Chelsea’s Massive Recruitments and Future Transfer Window Plans Unveiled by BlueCo Consortium

If there is one team in Europe that stood out for its huge recruitments during the last transfer window, it is BlueCo’s Chelsea, a consortium led by Todd Boehly, Clearlake Capital, Mark Walter and Hansjörg Wyss. And according to journalist Ben Jacobs, the London club is not ready to stop there during the next transfer windows.

Indeed, the latter has clarified in recent days on his X account that Sports Directors Laurence Stewart and Paul Winstanley will still be in charge of signings for the Blues until the end of the season. As a reminder, it is precisely these two men who are “guilty” of the many follies of the current 12th in the Premier League in recent months. To their credit, no less than €617 million spent during the 2022-2023 season and €460 million in 2023-2024 (i.e. more than €1 billion in a season and a half…) and several monstrous operations such as the purchase of Enzo Fernández in January 2023 against €121 million and of Moisés Caceido this summer for €133 million… Of course, the Blues also sold (€250 million during the last transfer window), but nothing that could compensate for such expenses.

It must be said that the club’s new policy has been clear since the arrival of BlueCo: to recruit future prospects of world football at a high price but whose salary expectations are not excessive in comparison to confirmed players. The excessive transfer fees paid by the Londoners are therefore supposed to be compensated by a “low” wage bill in the long term… However, the club’s management also promised Pochettino to reduce its bloated workforce in order to facilitate his sporting choices, it also committed to helping him strengthen his starting eleven if the results did not follow. There is therefore no doubt that Chelsea should be active again this winter given the Blues’ poor start in the Premier League this season. For his part, the Argentine coach would finally like to see some experienced players arrive in order to supervise his band of young talents.
