Maatsen is allowed to leave Chelsea despite his basic debut; transfer to PL top beckons

Five players, including Ian Maatsen, are scheduled to leave Chelsea next month. The Blues want to raise money, as the sport is not yet going well and new reinforcements need to be financed. Maatsen is one of the most interesting options for sale. The 21-year-old left back is still stuck at Stamford Bridge for eighteen months and can now earn a significant amount of money.
Although Chelsea has spent more than a billion euros on transfers since the arrival of Todd Boehly in June 2022, the Londoners continue to experience trial and error. Last season Chelsea finished twelfth in the Premier League and currently occupy tenth place in England’s top level.

Boehly wants to play for prizes and that is why the club faces another busy transfer window next month. The five facing an exit are named Conor Gallagher, Trevor Chalobah, Armando Broja, Malang Sarr and Maatsen, reports The Athletic.
Maatsen experienced his biggest milestone in Chelsea’s service on Wednesday. Although as a right winger, he was allowed to play in the starting line-up for the first time in the Premier League.
It should be noted that Chelsea did have to contend with a number of absences: for example, Raheem Sterling and Cole Palmer were missing from the matchday selection due to suspension.
The Blues think they can cash in big for Maatsen. Burnley offered 31.5 million pounds (approximately 36.3 million euros) last summer, but the left-footer then put an end to a move to Turf Moor.
Maatsen wanted to go for his chance in London and was rewarded for this from time to time. Although he played fifteen matches, he was only allowed to participate in three from the start, mainly as an attacker.
Manchester City and West Ham United are among Maatsen’s admirers, The Athletic knows. He was also followed by Ajax last summer.
Chelsea hopes to capture the highest transfer fee for Gallagher. The midfielder, who surprisingly did not get playing time in only one match this season, should earn around 46 million euros.
