Chelsea’s Cole Palmer Sets New Club Record with 10th Premier League Goal in Defeat to Wolverhampton Wanderers

Cole Palmer set a new club record in Sunday’s 4-2 defeat to Wolverhampton Wanderers.

Palmer has established himself as a key part of the Chelsea squad following his arrival from Manchester City in the summer.

He has started 15 of his 19 Premier League matches for the Blues, including Sunday’s clash against Wolves at Stamford Bridge.

The 21-year-old got Mauricio Pochettino’s side off to the perfect start, finding the net in the 19th minute to score in a third successive home game in all competitions.

Palmer latched onto Moise Caicedo’s perfect pass to slide the ball into the bottom corner with his weaker right foot.

Not only did Palmer put his team in the lead, but he also broke a club record with his 10th league goal of the 2023-24 season.

He became the first Chelsea player aged 21 or under to record a double-digit goal tally in a single Premier League campaign.

Unfortunately for Palmer, his early strike had very little significance as Wolves fought back to take all three points in west London.
