The English club Chelsea defeated Panathinaikos of Greece 4-1 this Thursday to top the standings in the European Football Conference League after two days.
Targets by Joao Félix at minutes 22 and 55, by Mijailo Mudryk (48) and Christopher Nkunku (59), the latter from a penalty, certified Chelsea’s victory in the Olympic stadium in Athens against rivals who, through Facundo Pellistri ( 69) were able to make the cross on the blackboard.
The English, after a first half in which they went to the estuaries with an advantage of only one goal thanks to Félix’s initial goal, at the start of the second they knew how to materialize their chances to completely tilt the duel in their favor.
This was Chelsea’s second victory in the same number of appearances after their 4-2 debut against the Belgian Gent and with six units and a positive differential of more than five goals they top the tournament standings that gives the champion access to play the Europa League next year.
Another of the clubs called to compete for the top positions in the tournament, Fiorentina of Italy, also materialized its second smile on the day by beating Swiss St. Gallen 4-2 and is positioned in second place.
In addition to the English and Italians, seven other clubs add six points to place themselves in the advanced group of the tournament in which a total of 36 participate.
